You know me, Fiberglass is the way to go, outside & inside. You could make a metal plate for the inside to match & cover it up.

It's back upside down! To go ahead & do the body work around the rear window now as it's easy to get to.

I'm having the same issue. It is a marine fuel cap is what I found. They are the only one that I have found to fit. But I am having another prob completly. Here in Colorado they are emition testing everything and my so called "Fuel Cap" does not pass so they fail the hole car. It is a marine fuel cap which you can get at at boat shop. What year is your GT reg'ed as. Should be on your VW # for year of reg. Are they saying it need to be a vented system? If so, I do not think VW had a vented system back them. Maybe a vented gas cap? If so, maybe drill a 1/32" hole in the cap at the highest point.

Finished glassing around the W/S frame & waiting for it to cure. Will trim & sanded the edges. Also added 1 layer of mat from the old roof to the new W/S frame to fill in the gap. Will add more mat when dry. Started to rubber undercoat the bottom of the body. Used 2 cans & will need to get some more.

Will it be amphibious? Should float pretty good. The body may, but the frame would sink it.

I understand these cars are from the 70's , but still not sure what a "grove box" is? LOL The dash with or without gauges? Glove box is cardboard that fit in the hole on the right side. Gauges are sold.

Hey, anybody has any comment? ? Good, Bad & the Ugly!!!!!!!!!! The gull wing doors & frame is about the only thing that is left stock on the body. This is to show just how much fiberglass is needed if you do mod's! Got the front tunnel & shifter plate finished. Did the top of the rear window frame. ;D Will trim it tonight & the under body should be finished. A little sanding to clean it up. Will work on the inside W/S frame & rear window, that should do it.

Waiting for the tunnel to cure, so cut out the shifter plat from the metal tunnel & will glass in in for some added support in that area. Will make up some resin paste & in-bed the metal into it & fiberglass it in The outside under body is almost finished, but then need to start on the inside, like around the new wind shield framing & back window. It's a little hard trying to glass upside down.

OK, forgot the front of the tunnel. So instead of building framing around it to glass, I pulled a little trick. After sanding around the area applied some resin on the edges. Then soaked some mat on the flat surface, picked it up carefully & laid it in the hole. Making sure it was smooth & flat anchored it to the sides with resin. Will need to keep a eye on it to be sure it doesn't fall in. Will add more mat after it cures & will have a nice hard surface to work with. That's a little secret passing on to everybody.

Haven't forgotten about you guys. Busy working on the White Bradley & house work. So here's an update on the Yellow Bradley Got more fiberglassing done on the bottom of the body section. Sanding some down to fiber glass. Been laying 2-3 layers of mat on all of the seams made inside to reinforce the areas. A few more spaces to go then can put it back on the frame. Did some glassing this evening & looks like the only thing left will be the Honda DelSol rear window frame.

Not to hard, basically you will want to remove the computer from the main harness. There will be only a few wire which do not go the the engine which you will need to figure out where they go. Check You-Tube & run a search on the web. Here is what I found for the Subaru wiring on the 3.3 engine. www.rs25.com/forums/f128/t146117-how-wiring-eg33-into-your-gc.html

Working on the rear firewall. Added 3/8" x 1" strips around the edge of the access panel. laid Alum tape on it for a good release. Glassed on 2 layers of about 2" wide mat on the lip then another 2 layer of mat on the complete back of firewall. This will help seal it from water & other thing in the engine comp. All glassed up & trimmed. Here you can see the lip which will have rubber seal to close off the cover. Next will be to glass the front before glassing it to the body. Still working on the rocker panel & scoop as will as glassing some on the bottom of the Yellow Bradley.
