So I'm not super happy with it, but it fits, and I think the car needs something. My wife HATES it. Settle it for us, once and for all. or Thanks for your input.

I too thought a rear spoiler would look good. Tried a few one was not too bad. I chose to leave it off. Once I applied the paint I realized that the spoiler would ruin the lines of the car.

I was thinking about a wing but something that looks lighter and is taller.

Mine had the mustang style whale tail spoiler fitted to it when I got it. It didn't look to bad but I liked the clean lines of the gtII better without it. Any ways someone butchered the car up pretty good before I got it so I'm gonna make it a roadster. One thing for sure is i've had it for ten years and when I feel like working on it I do but most times it just sits there not bothering noone !!!

IMHO it depends on if you are looking for the sport look or the european look.

Against it. I think spoilers are like guys that drive big trucks! You what I mean..trying to prove something.

I think that's where my wife's distaste for it comes from too. But that's not me. I feel the same about those little Hondas with the big oil cans for exhaust...

I think it looks good with or without the spoiler. I actually think it looks better with it, but it is hard to tell from a pic. However, having been married before, I would have to defer to the wifes opinion cuz if she isn't happy then you aren't happy.

Of course if the wife HATES it, then that may be the reason to keep it!

Or, you may want to ask yourself one question? Do you want to add a spoiler/wing to the rear of a car that is gonna put more downward force on the rear of the vehicle(at speed), therefore making the already too light frontend of said vehicle even lighter? I would go with the wifes opinion.

Ah the infamous fart can as we call them up here. Funny thing about them is all the Honda drivers install them to go faster yet they have a detrimental effect on exhaust back pressure causing a slight reduction in HP and torque. As for the wing, how is your view in the rear view mirror. On mine, without the wing, the rear view is so bad due to the low glass angle, major blind spots to the sides, seating position and window tint that I am installing a rear view camera system for regular driving. Not just a backup camera.

The spoiler gives it a kind of ricer look. Here in the south there's a saying: If momma's happy, everybody's happy. If momma ain't happy, nobody's gonna be happy. Dan, I used a backup cam as a rear view in my Hupmobile. It makes backing into a parking space or up to a trailer a cinch. I put a roof mounted cam on my Bradley too.

Some years ago I posted mine with a nice, low-slung rear spoiler, but the mounts were on the rear cover and it tore it up too much. I took it off.

Does the GTII NEED a spoiler/wing?

Does the GTII NEED a spoiler/wing? Only on the front. In all reality it is so light in the front a weight is a good idea.

I wish I knew how wide the GT2 was in comaprison to the GT, but if its the hight and stance of the spoiler that the MRS doesn't like, check out the spoilers on the 1989-93 dodge daytonas or off the 95-97 ford probe. The daytona should be almost perfect for keeping the body stance in prospective, and the probe is cruvy to keep the point of focus mooving. Now like a few of the others have mentioned, the light front end... take a look at some of the muscle cars from the late 60s-mid 70s, what do they have in common besides V8s. "Chin Spoilers," they played a triple purpose. 1. Helped pull the front end down with wind pressure. 2. Forced more air on the radiator for cooling. 3. Killer good looks. for that matter, check out some of the better done ricer tuner with the coffee can tail pipes, a lot of those body kits mimick the chin spoiler, and even have extra "wings" on each side to create down force at the wheel. If you have an extreame engine with the desire to push it hard, then the "wing" thing is a good and safe idea. For the sake of the looks of the BGT2 if you do go with a rear spoiler, do a chin spoiler also (like a camero or mustang) it will be as functional as it looks.
If nothing else, ask your "Boss" what it is that she doesn't like about the spoiler, and either downsize to a smaller one or go bigger... Like a Plymoth Superbird...

I'm not so much worried about the weight up front, with the 120lb bar and now the 13 gallon cell my neighbor made... but yes, I've also always wanted to put something up front.
Anyone have some idea of what's out there that would fit? 70's Camaro, 260z, old Vette? Maybe all that's available now are some of the universal "splitters" the ricer's use these days...
Not 100% sold on the wing yet, still trying to decide if I like it. It does give me a place to mount a fairly high 3rd brake light, which will also be nice.
Appreciate all the feedback, and I'm for sure going to do that electronic rear-view. Where are you guys putting the camera? in the engine lid? above the rear glass?

I think the engine lid will vibrate too much. I am heading towards at the top of the rear glass inside the car.

Dan, if you put the cam inside the glass your night vision will almost disappear. The IR LEDs will illuminate the inside glass surface causing only an "eyeball" effect. You'll see a ring of light penetrated only by headlights that are close in proximity. I tried everything to eliminate this on the hot rod but finally had to move the cam outside. For daytime use the cam against the glass was fine but at night it just won't work.
