well its been a long time coming and it finally happened. We spend a weekend behind the wheel. I dont think that i was braced for the shock on the over drivers and folks faces as we drove around. Everyone wants to know what it is and where i "bought" it. Too Funny. There are a couple questions i have now and wondering if any drivers can tell me their thoughts. First one is OMG is the front stiff . I'm driving with standard stocks ( no over coils) and a reg ball joint set up ( no lowering ..though it could use it ) . The back feels fine but the front feels like there is no spring at all and make the front feel VERY LIGHT ...like it could just bounce up. Also what kinda of oil pressure should i be seeing on a meter. I t was strange to see the pressure drive when idling and come up when excelling ...is that normal ? any thoughts and help would wonderful but man what a thrilling weekend

Play with your tire pressure. 18lbs up front would be a good start.
Yes. Oil pressure will be at its lowest at idle. You can have as little as 5 psi at idle and it should get up in the 40s when cruising. The more the variance the worse shape your motor is in.

Not sure if you have a GT or a GT2, but I had the same feeling with my GT2. Terrible understeer...
I installed a big hunk of weight up front (about 150lbs.) to get the shocks to compress just a little. Drove much better then.

I had thought of getting one of those aluminum sandrail beam setups, looks cool and its designed for a much lighter frontend.
anyone ever tried?
also taller profile tires will give more cushon than the low pros
I am working on mounting my battery between the headlights(to put weight in front of the axle) and I want to build a fuel cell to fit in front, under the center of the hood,it will be heavy wall steel with a small impact cage surround.
I think the combination will really help the handling/weight dist.

You can pull leaves. Its a decent job time wise. Reducing your tire pressure is free......

well gonna try switching out the gas shocks and putting in oil -- and see if that helps . I fear the leaves are coming out.
Might have something to do with the amount of weight of the engine behind the back wheels "un-weighting" the front end some. Not sure how much heaviery the new one is v/ the original.

On my GT2 the steering was extremely touchy at high speed, 50 mph. Reducing air press to 15 psi helped a bit, raising caster [as I made my own framehead] also helped a bit. Adding some weight helped a bit. Then I remembered that the wider front tires combined with the wheel adapters/spacers was affecting the scrub radius. Adding an extra 1/8" toe in solved the problem. Stock toe setting is 1/8" toe in. Non gas shocks will make a big difference in the ride stiffness. You can disconnect the gas shocks then go for a ride to see the difference. Non gas will also slightly lower the front end.

i thought the the same thing - might be bouncy but better than rock hard and would def tell us if the swap is gonna help.
