So, I was hoping someone could give me the run down on what to do/the best/cheapest way to go about installing AC in the Bradley Gt. I've done some research but I realize all the universal kits are 1 600 dollars or more and 2 assuming front engine vehicles, so I assume there's no way around the price, but I just wanna know what I need to buy and just an idea on how to install it in this car.

I put together my system with all new parts except a used evaporator. I bought the evaporator for $40 with shipping from a member here. The compressor (Sanden 134A) was $60 w/shipping on ebay. I bought a drier, compressor oil, thermostat and fan controller pod, and trinary switch from nostalgicairparts.com for $120. The condensor was $70 and the condensor fan was another $30 on ebay. I ordered the hoses and fittings locally for $158.00 and paid another $40 for crimping. $11 for a new fan belt. I paid $32 for 4 cans of R134A. The compressor brackets were homemade. Total cost: $561.

It really is only a matter of longer hoses and selecting a routing path for them. I have dropped pans so i chose to run the hoses underneath the car between the pans with a metal shield over them rather than inside the car, tunnel or body. I'm a bit crazy anyway so I elected to mount 100% of the AC system on the chassis. This way I could construct and charge the system before mounting the body.

I.C.E. AC has kits especially made for ACVW & buses. About $1600 for complete kit w/ 1 year warranty. www.iceac.com/Not as cheap as scrounging, but cheaper than other kits, and warranty is nice. Warmest....

That is thinking outside of the box. Do you have some sort of plate in the wheel well behind the compressor so the bolts aren't just through glass and plywood? Do you get any vibration tranferred to the body? How will you keep the belt tight? It looks to me like 56hp pulling constantly at one point on the body might eventually warp it. Its nice that you were able to do the install without relocating the driver's side fan outlet.

My only concern is that the compressor is not mounted on the engine and I don't see a tensioner. My observations have been that the engine pitches with respect to the body quite a bit at low idle and when braking or accelerating hard. Might not do it with solid mounts, but with stock rubber ones it is fairly observable and seems like the belt would be subject to popping off or breaking.
Regards,
