Hello all! I have spent the last few days "educating" myself by reading literally every post on this board pertaining to a GT. For my entire life (32 years) my neighbor has had a Bradley GT sitting in the driveway under a tarp. I remember him giving me a ride in it when I was little, and needless to say, I loved it! Well, I recently got word from my parents that said neighbors were looking to relocate from NJ to Florida, and were looking to get rid of the Bradley. Having never seen another in person, I thought I should snatch it up. $500 later....and I'm the owner!
I don't know much about the car, and frankly, it's been years since I got a really good look at it. I do know that it's all there. Doors, windshield and rear glass are all in great shape....so I know that alone was worth the asking price. Interior is still all in place, and the body is solid. It currently has no engine, but my neighbor briefly told me over the phone that he has a "new" engine in the garage, and bought a new gas tank before Bradley folded. I can't remember if my neighbor assembled the kit himself, or bought it in some stage of completion, but he is the original owner. He once told me it was built on a Super Beetle chassis, but is this possible given the Super's different front end configuration? Would there be clearance issues with the body? I'm no expert on the VW underpinnings, but I briefly drove a Bug in college, so I'm looking forward to working on it. Everything as far as the chassis and drivetrain is from a Bug...yes? I've done myself a huge favor by ordering Jeff's CD and making a file of all the useful information on this site so as to learn from those who have gone before me! I know the number one question on these forums is "Pictures". (I know this from my other "toy" forums...Mustang GT, Jeep Rubicon, Harley, Military Trailer...etc) I will get some pics and keep everyone updated when I pick up the car in a few weeks.
Lastly, do I recall reading some posts from someone in the Denver area? I am here on business for the next few weeks, and would love to see your project! Reach out for me!
Thanks in advance for everything I'll learn from you folks!
