OK. This might be a stupid question, but..... here it goes.
The one thing that I hate about the BGT design is the big, bulky, UGLY front turn signals that look like trailer lights! While upgrading my wiring I want to replace them with some smaller, sleeker more eye appealing signals. While doing research, the ones that I really like are motorcycle turn signals. (This is where the possibly stupid come). Can you wire motorcycle turn signals onto a car?
Also, what do you need to run LED's lights. I am going to upgrade my rear tails to LED and probably go the LED route on the turn lamps as well.
Info, advice, experience ? All is welcome. THANKS!

Sure you can run them. I would be sure they have the driving (ie: they have both dim and bright circuits) lights as some states require them.
If you run all LEDs you will need an electronic flasher.

I just did my rear lights in led.you can buy 4in round lights at autozone. Unbolt the three outer screws on your lights and remove, then bolt just the hard rubber trim rings back on. Then new lights pop right in perfect, even covers screws. Lights are 20ea

I've been running LED rear tail lights for more than a year & I love them. I also have LED clearance lights and turn signals in the front (also on the mirrors). But pay attention to what jspbtown wrote about the electronic flasher. One of the great things about LED's is they draw less current. But that attribute also means that a normal (cheap <$5) thermo flasher will not work because the lights will not draw enought current to make the the flasher bar inside get hot enough to disconnect, so the lights will just stay on. Thus the need for the electronic flasher (about $20). Note that you may have to run a couple of extra wires (at least a seperate ground wire, possibly a seperate + wire) to the electronic flasher. Regards,

Im looking at new lights too, and LEDs are the best Ive found so far. Not as expensive as they once were, so cost is no longer an issue. As far as the bike lights, they will work fine, but like jspbtown says, make sure they do what the car will do. (park lights and signals) If you stay with LEDs, do some body mods and make them part of the front of the car. I saw some LED yellow 2"x6"bars at NAPA and they would fit in the front at the bumper line just fine. Hope this helps!

I was looking on EBay at some nice LED lights for my GT II. The thing that stuck out in my mind, when reading the product description, is not all LEDs are DOT approved and some can not be the only lights you're running. I find myself double checking every listing now.

I actually have motorcycle turn signals on mine. I bought them on ebay, they were for a GXR motorcycle, and I mounted them under the front bumpers on the outside of the air opening on the body, most people dont know that they are lights for a bike and are suprised to hear it.

You can certainly wire motorcycle lights onto a car, providing that they are the same voltages. 6 volt to 6 volt and 12 volt to 12 volt. I wouldn't worry too much about whether the lights are D.O.T. approved. As far as the only lights you are running, again, I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as they do the job you need them to do. Except for the headlights, in which case I would definitely make sure they were D.O.T. approved. If you would happen to get stopped by the police for anything, I would be willing to bet that it wouldn't be for non D.O.T. approved turn signals. It would probably be because the officer just wanted to know what kind of vehicle you were driving as he had never seen one before.
