Hi all!
Just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. My name is Scott, and I picked up a fairly complete GT yesterday. I traded 2 XR250's (projects) for the car, so I haven't really invested anything into the Bradley yet.
The Bradley sits on a '69 IRS chassis, and has a very complete single port engine in the back. Sadly, the two plexi gullwing doors have been cut at the bend, and someone attempted to fabricate some sort of fabric hinge. The front windshield is not salvageable, but the rear fastback window is intact.
It also included 2 fairly decent highback bucket seats, a center console, and all of the Bradley bumperettes. The headlight doors are intact, and the actuator handle is in place as well. The car has the correct VDO gauges. Previous owner had the 2 pan replacement 1/4's, one was welded in rather crudely, the other is uninstalled.
About me...I'm a longtime VW enthusiast, having owned many Beetles, a '64 Ghia, a '74 Thing, a '72 Bay Window, and currently in possession of a '69 sedan, a '70 vert(rough), a '73 Super(donor), and the pride of my fleet, my '73 Class 11 project.
I may not be the leading authority on VW's, but I've certainly bled on more than one, and I'm always happy to help out if anyone cares to listen.
I may try and get the single port running tonight after work. I need an engine for my '69(damaged piston). If I can salvage the Bradley engine to be a runner, I think I'll do that, as I dive into a rebuild of the GT.
Long term plans? Not sure yet, but I'll share my initial vision...I'm thinking big motor(2275cc maybe), bus tranny(002or091), a bit of a tube chassis/roll bar(front beam to rear torsion, with a roll hoop and a little side protection), while trying to maintain somewhat period correct paint and graphics.
Or...maybe I'll just sell it. Time will tell. I'm pretty involved in my Class 11, and don't really have time or money to throw at the Bradley right now.
I'll try and post up some pics soon. Just wanted to say Hi!
