Are the gas tanks for the GTII available anywhere? Also is the master cylinder easy to change on the same car?

GTII gas tanks were custom made. Your best bet is to look at some marine tanks that are close dimensionally.
Master cylinder removal includes removing brake lines, swapping over (or better yet replacing) brake switches and removing 2 bolts from the napolean hat.
Of course you have whatever reservoir set up to swap over as well.

If you have the old single stage master {one sw and 3 outlets at the end, do yourself a favor and upgrade to the newer 2 stage master.

Haven't worked on this car yet so I guess I can reach the master by taking off the left front wheel. Thinking of just selling it.

yup,
Taking off left front wheel: you can reach the master brake cylinder, left front suspension and steering box quite easily.
Taking off right front wheel: you can reach the right front suspension, steering damper, horn, windshield wiper fluid (if it has it) all quite easily. Also my inline fuel filter is behind the right wheel, but I don't know if this is common.
I wouldn't recommend selling it, unless it is completely thrashed up and is missing the glass (which is super rare to find). It's the been the most fun I have had working on a car.

I got it from my wife's aunt because her uncle died. I really don't fit in it. Its been sitting covered in their garage for about 10/15 years. Engine runs and it looks like everything works except it looks like the master cylinder is leaking. All the glass is good.

wow, sounds like you got a really lucky deal, sorry to hear about the recent passing. Like I said, I wouldn't recommend selling it, but if you really wanted to, I am sure you could sell it pretty quick. where are you located?
The GTII is really fun simple and easy car to work on (if it's all the original VW components).

The story I got from my aunt was that the original owner was a higher up at EFP. (Engineered Foam Plastics is or was in Elkhart, Indiana) She thinks that Global glass and EFP worked together to make the fiberglass body's for the Bradleys'. Workers at EFP assembled the car on a refurbished 1971 VW Beetle engine and chassis. There are 6759 miles on the car now. Looks like the uncle bought it in 1991. My aunt still lives in Elkhart. The car is now in Homer Glen Illinois.

I wouldn't recommend selling it, but if you really wanted to, I am sure you could sell it pretty quick. I have to agree. I had a kit car when in my... well lets say it was in the early 1970's. I loved that car. Unfortunately some female driver ran a stop sign and totaled it. I purchased a Bradley GT 1 last October and have been working on it over the last 7 months. The satisfaction of doing even the smallest of things is very gratifying. When I take it out for a drive, everyone turns to look. I get more comments wherever I go, than with any other car I have ever owned.

I'm 6'3" between 235 and 250# (yeah, big jump in weight fluxerations) driving a GT1. I am almost too tall for it, or maybe I am and my love for it encourages me to make myself fit... I will eventually make a drop pan to lower the seat another 1 - 1 1/2", or maybe raise the body from chassis 2". It will be a little work eitherway, but it will be worth it. Do yourself a favor and clean it up the best you can, and just take it for a little drive in your yard or in the driveway. If you don't, you will wonder why you didn't and kick yourself later on. Eitherway, try to find some enjoyment from it while you have it

The GTII has gull wing doors. The problem I have is that I am also 6'2" and 68 years old and my knees are shot and my head sticks out above the roof with the doors open. I cant get in and close the gull wing doors. The knees are shot.

Yeah, I could see how that would be an issue, sorry to hear that :/ Well, I would listen to what people have been saying and give it a chance (even a small one); if it doesn't work out, I am sure you could find someone nearby that would love the car and take it off your hands.

I'm 6' and have a suggestion -- try moving the seat as far back as it will go on the sliders turn around and sit on the door jamb then as you begin ease further in past the jamb start to turn towards the front & at the same time lean way way back head against the seat head-rest and fold your right knee (like you would if you're sitting in a chair and wanted to cross your right leg over your left knee) now slide your knee across and down into the pedal cluster area keep leaning back and very-very subtly grab your left knee with your left arm and slowly pull it up to your chest and into the car while trying to look busy tuning the radio or adjusting the rear view mirror once you're in slide the seat with you in it to the correct leg position to be able to press the clutch in all the way then you do the hootchie-kootchie with style & grace

Even being short my head sticks out the top of my GT. A lot of that is due to the Saturn seats the PO put in . This will more than likely be my last car without doors not the easiest thing for someone in my shape to get out of . After all round is a shape too lol.

Ok I removed the tank and the inside is a rusty mess from sitting many years. I purchased a tank cleaning/sealing kit from Eastwood and will use it in the next couple of days. I got the engine running with new hoses, filters and a small temp gas tank. The gas sending unit is a mess and its stuck. I will try to clean it with some cleaners but in case it still does not work does anybody have an idea where to get a replacement?

Makes it easy to roll in and out. I am 50 years old 6'2" 360 lbs and I can get in mine. My seats are 89 Nissan 240sx mounted far back and in pockets. My head is about 1 inch below the top glass. Crotch strap in the 5 point harness is for body positioning. When I use the shoulder straps I am locked in place. Just finished relocating my pedals farther apart and closer to the firewall. 2" makes the world of difference.

I got the engine running with new hoses, filters and a small temp gas tank. The gas sending unit is a mess and its stuck. I will try to clean it with some cleaners but in case it still does not work does anybody have an idea where to get a replacement? Some tips on the tank. Clean it with hot water and washing soda first. I stuck my ghia tank in the BBQ and boiled it with the washing soda mix. This gets rid of the sludge and varnish. Build an electolysis cleaner to take out the rust. It is very simple. You need a 12v battery, a hd battery charger, booster cables and a piece of scrap steel that will fit into the sending unit hole without touching the tank. Square tubing or rebar works well. Arm and hammer washing soda {NOT BAKING SODA}. Plug all tank openings except the sending unit hole. Insulate one end of the scrap steel with rubber or bolt a piece of wood to the end that extends about an inch. Place the scrap steel into the tank send unit hose so it reaches the bottom. Insulate around the opening so the scrap steel can never touch the tank. Mix water and soda at a ratio of 5 gallons water to 1/3 to 1/2 cup laundry soda. Mix well so all soda is dissolved. Fill the tank with this. Using the battery cables connect the neg battery post to the tank and the pos post to the scrap steel. This is most important or the process will reverse and you will transfer rust onto the tank. Also connect the charger to the battery. It will shortly start producing bubbles. It may take a few days but when it is done it will be rust free and look black. This is the stage when you can start with your tank sealing kit.. Safety - Turn off the current before making adjustments to the setup. Just as a "spark" can cause a charging battery to explode in your face, this process produces similar gases because this process splits water into hydrogen gas (at the negative electrode) and oxygen at the positive electrode). - Hydrogen will burn explosively if ignited. All flames, cigarettes, torches, etc. must be removed from the area, and sparks caused by touching the leads together must be avoided. The work should be performed outside or in a well ventilated area to remove these gases safely. - Washing soda solutions are alkaline and will irritate the skin and eyes. Use eye protection and gloves. Immediately wash off any solution spilled or splashed onto your body. The brown crap and water are safe to dispose of on your lawn or the wifes flower garden, just avoid her ornamental shrubs. They may not like iron rich alkaline water. WHEN USING A TANK SEALING KIT DO IT OUTSIDE. MEK {Methyl ethyl ketone} IS NASTY ON THE LUNGS. You will need at least 2 tank kits to do the job. Read and follow their instructions carefully.
