Wow...that is in tough shape. Looks like a total re-spray, the wiring is disturbing to say the least. Are those the gauges that were always in it? Eeek.
I hope you didn't pay more than a couple of grand for that. You are going to need to take that paint down to the primer since there is some serious adhesion issues.
Wow...great lesson for people buying kits from far away....go see it before you buy it!

Yes it sucks. To bad it is cost prohibitive to fly out of Missoula(or I would have seen it in person & offered $2,500 instead of the 5k I spent). I think I'll do some mods & then maybe paint it white, with a black center stripe. I would like some brake cooling intakes up front, along with driver lights. Plus, maybe some air escape vents out back. Plus, 15inch wheels instead of 14inch wheels, so I can put disc brakes on it.

I don't think that I have ever seen an ignition coil installed inside a Budweiser beer can. Too funny! Sharp looking little car. Have fun making is beautiful again.

If it was me I would rip the body off, replace everything underneath, rip out the wiring and get a new harness, and paint

I'm in the process of buying an invader GT from only pictures. Doesnt really scare me much since I'm not spending 5k, only 600 bucks..and i can afford to lose that.

I could not be paid $600 to take an invader! To me it is one of the ugliest kit cars ever manufactured. It started out as a great car before the design was ripped off and turned into what it was

And you really paid $5000 for that car? What sort of photos did you see before hand? unless you got photos from 20 years ago you should have been easily able to spot all of the visible issues. You did not learn from the other cars you got burned on?

If the guy really was just ripped off, do you think it's good for him to now condensed?

If the guy really was just ripped off, do you think it's good for him to now condensed? It is like the 2nd or 3rd time he has been burned buying a kit car. I would never purchase one sight unseen. Either go on a road trip to see it, or get on a plane. I would fly to California tomorrow if there was something I was interested in.

For me its only $600 bucks. and I havent bought it yet, but its worth the 600 no matter how you cut it and its only an hour away. I think its a cool looking car and I'm getting it for my 8 year old's first car. So I get to play with it for 8 years and then he wont be able to do anything stupid with out every one knowing who's car it is.
I'm going to go get it some time this week. Probably Wednesday or Thursday.
I'll post up pics when I have her home.

Enjoy the build. Its all about personal taste so go for it. Don't sink too much money into it...even beautifully restored they aren't worth anything.
I would say that it will be a terrible first car for anyone...you will understand why as soon as you get it and drive it. Until then....have fun!

More pics of my Kellison Astra GT. Including my new accelerator cable & clutch cable & clutch cable tube. I used a small band clamp to hold the clutch cable eyelet in place on the catch hook. I then greased & installed these in the car.
