Hey wolfglizzy,
Welcome, you're asking lots of questions which is a good thing.
First off is this a steal? No it's not. A steal would be around $1200.
The ad does not speak about the condition of the car though from the pix it looks fairly together.
I have the exact same color GT2 as in that pix
and the gel-coat is in about the same condition that is it needs some restoration.
Mine was one owner as well as factory-assembled, and as a result all the wiring and other parts that
tend to go bad were in perfect un-molested condition
since the one you're looking at is supposedly one owner, it might have been well maintained.
If you do go to look at it take your time and look over the whole car very carefully.
When I looked at mine, i got under the dash and checked the wiring for taped up splices etc.
In my case everything was pristine. the owner was asking $4000.00 and I simply told him
that it was not a $4000.00 car & of course he asked me what I thought it was worth I offered $2700.00
and we settled at $3000.00 which to me was worth it since the car was in really good condition.
Even so I've already put about $1500.00 in parts to update stuff that was just worn or needed replacement
These cars are VW Beetles under the Bradley skin,
so if you can take care of a VW with all the maintenance required (and it's a good bit) yes they are dependable
but not exactly to todays standards. The VW Beetle is a forty year old ride
and although it can be upgraded, your Corolla will have been a more substantial performer from the factory.
I'd advise you to read as much as you can on this board, you'll find answers to many of your questions.
Take your Dad with you when you go to look at it since he'll know a lot of what to look for,
besides two heads are better than one. PS, I'm 6' tall and i fit in the GT2 just fine, the seat has tracks so you adjust it back to fit your size.
How fast will it go? That depends on the engine, stock 1600cc probably about 75, maybe 80 with a good tail wind.
One thing to consider is that this is not necessarily a car that you want to go high speed in. It's not really safely
constructed and in the words of one member on this board, "it's not the car you want to take to a crash"
Hope this sheds some light on some of your questions.
All the best,
Mike Horen

I'd say it depends mainly on your budget. For $350-$1500 you can buy a shell or something that needs ground-up resto. Once you go above $2000.00 it gets dicey, that is sometimes you find one that was owned by someone who built & took care of it and just wants to pass it on, or on the other hand one that is in need of lots of work & the owner thinks it's a gem. In my estimation it's a waiting game for exactly the right one to pop-up. Usually the ones that are going for $4,000 -$5,000 provided the seller isn't delusional, is the category of having been restored and put back on the road with all the proper equipment. The major stuff to look at are common sense stuff. Look under everywhere: If the wiring is full of splices, strange looking patches in the body or chassis, the engine compartment looks like a pig-sty, those are what you want to walk away from. You did not mention whether you have mechanical skills but basically what you are looking to buy, is a VW Beetle made into a slot car. Sometimes good buys show up on CraigsList, as well as this board. Another good place to tune in is: www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/cat.php?id=19If you do find something to buy it's a good idea to post some pictures here as well as your concerns and you will get a ton of feed-back from some of the "old salts" on this board. In any event continue to take your time and look for the right deal. Good Luck & all the best Mike Horen P.S. This post should be in "Bradley Discussion" as this column, "Classified" is for stuff for sale.

As in Adobe Illustrator? If so. . . This pic must be from the actual plotter print Save it as an eps and post that, then everyone can use it That's what I did with the Bradley I.D. Plate Nice job Donnie!

That looks like a pretty clean crisp GT to me, I'd ease up on this gent a little,
if my dad came home with this for me to share, I'd be doing headstands like Boingee Baxter!
Good luck with that Mr.Bigness and a warm welcome!!!!

Just in case this column is getting a little stagnant, here's a youtube my bro shared with me: I figure it's of interest to gear-heads and across the boards! Installation of the Incity tower spire by helicopter click link below www.youtube.com/embed/qJHlXe_RnYo

You certainly have a way of cutting through the mustard John!
How come you want to part out that beautiful twoie?
Now if any of those dreamers want to latch onto a real ride. . . .

I'm sure everyone's busy doing stuff just wanted to rattle the cage doors with something I totally enjoyed. Seeing a great performance like that Navy choir to me is also as great as picking up some of the terrific info shared on this site. It's Patriotic without the politics.

Here's one I made up a while back download the file and like jman says take it to a trophy shop you'll need to add some numbers & letters and have them burn it on to aluminum then rivet it to the inside door sill or some place obvious.

Thanks for the encouragement Jeff, turns out a sweetheart of a guy in town was selling these on CL. He told me to take them home and see if they fit, and if they do come back and buy them. The 7" works on the back & front, the 10" only on the back and it's a little tight. I think I'll have the 10's cut down at weldcraftwheels.com in Michigan as I don't care for the gasser-look. But I really like them & they were only $225 for all! So it looks like my Root Beer Twoie will get a new pair of sneakers!

Who on this board uses wheel adapters?
And if you do what problems have you had?
And if you don't, what was your solution for wheels
other than standard 4x130 or 5x205?
I found some really kool wheels that are 5x5
for my Rootbeer 2 which has 4x130 drums
that I'm not really excited about changing out.
I know you can buy blank rear drums & drill them
and change to disc front with Chevy but $$$$$$$
Huh?

You have to get the build manual or a reference diagram
the hoses go to the compressor as well as the rest
of the plumbing that makes up the AC
which is mounted by a special bracket & is turned off a double pulley on the engine
most likely all that has been removed

The lines and cooler and fan are the remains of AC.

This issue has been discussed extensively in other threads,
bottom line it would take more than $20,000 to set up molds and run off a bunch of windows
that would wind up costing between $500.00 to $1000.00 each.
There are not enough people willing to commit to an escrow fund to get this done.

Depending on where you live, you can dial-in any number of Brads listed on CraigsList raleigh.craigslist.org/search/cto?query=bradleySome are crud boxes like the above listed by dreamers. Then again if you stay on top of it sooner or later the right buy will surface. Type in Bradley on Cars & Trucks, select BY Owner, & then start pulling down the regional tab and have a look around.

Good question CCD, the car is not running at this point & I pushed it out of the garage
and into what I thought would be a safe place,
the pix I took were just as I returned home from a parts run,
and these guys were already in place with the boom in the air.
Needless to say the operator was skilled
and I guess that's why they call people like that from MA. . .
Mass-holes!

How was your day today? Mine was very exciting and breathtaking I'm finally getting ready to start on building a studio in the basement. The builder said The lumber yard was dropping off materials this afternoon I emptied the basement of everything and moved it to the garage. The Brad got bumped outside to what I thought was a safe place . . . right? but NOOOOOOOOOOO! Along comes the the boys . . . . and they couldn't pull any closer if they tried! All I could think of was the windshield! I think they enjoyed the whole thing . . . . not a scratch but I'm moving further away tonight!

Look for an elderly person with blue paint skids on their fender.
That's a tough one,
I get shopping cart dents all over my GMC Safari
so much so that soon it will look like a hammered finish

Back to the windshield Grasshopper, why not go flat sheets of glass? [/URL] A glass shop with some heart could cut those, check out how the 1954 Porsche 356 looked it had flat windshields and the body was real curvy! True you'd have to do some fancy cutting & fiber-glass work but you'd have a legal windshield!
