I have been able to remove keyed lugs by hammering a (sacrificial) socket over them, then using an ordinary rachet wrench to take them off. Learned that in the 'hood.

Tucson, AZ.
I 'll get more pix, let me know what features you want to see.
The white one is odd : it has the GTE body but the hood is cut for a gasser, it had a fuel tank mounted there but never used. The wiring harness is for a gasser as well. I dont know whats with that.
The white one also has no paperwork.

***********SOLD*****************
So I bought a GT2-E with the plan of doing a father-daughter project. Daughter isn't as keen on the idea as I am. She wants a Mustang. Fine. Ungrateful little twit.
So the yello GTE is up for sale, comes with a spare GTE body, a white one. Some info on it :
Titled in CA as a 1982 Special Construction. Currently registered as Non-op in CA. Registration is $69 +130 to return to Op status.
Has good windshield. Has one missing small door glass, have a replacement on hand.
I bought it with a fried controller of unknown heritage. I just purchased a NOS still in the box GE EV-1 controller + pot box, which is what it came with originally.
Has the GE 9 inch motor w/ Bradley tag.
All 16 batteries are dead.
Needs the traction cabling that runs from the front battery pack to the rear. It had a run of 1/0 cable spliced in two places. I removed that .
Lester 96/12 charger, dont know if it works.
Lots of spare parts from the white one.
Although all the paperwork is CA, the car physically resides in Tucson AZ.
At $3500 for everything I'm losing a good amount, but automotive hobbies are like that 8<)
pics to follow.

Not shown is the hatch glass and some misc trim pieces. I plan to kit the loose hardware per the build book, so I can figure out what all I have. The body is GTE, but the hood is cut for the ICE. Why, I dont know. Shot at 2011-08-22 Shot at 2011-08-22 Shot at 2011-08-22 Shot at 2011-08-22 Shot at 2011-08-22 Shot at 2011-08-22 Shot at 2011-08-22 Shot at 2011-05-21

Is it that white one from Samba? I have a complete wiring harness from an ICE GT2, complete taillight assemblies, rear glass, seats, probably other stuff that you are missing.

Yes, we saw that one earlier at $50. Turns out one can't even give these carcasses away.

Cool. Do you think the Curtis controller is an easy way to go? The controller that was in the car isnt the original GE EV-1, its something else. It looks like lighting hit it, its blasted real bad so I have to replace it with something modern.

I plan to have it clocked so it runs properly at 120 VDC or so then drive the car with it.

Interesting. I suppose that's why I cant get rid of my GT2 remains at $150 : its a hard sell at 50 bucks , free might even prove to be difficult.

Hmm....a different take on the mayonaisse jar: Every time you and your girlfriend make love, put a penny in a jar. After you two marry, every time you make love take a penny out of the jar. The jar will never be empty..........

After thinking about it for a week, I'm going to cut it into 4 pieces. Not to store it, rather , to discard it. Its too much project to start from, the garage isn't tall enough to suspend it from the ceiling, HOA wont let me keep it in the yard (or in the driveway as non-ops aren't allowed). I have room to park the good GTE in the garage, one other good running car in the garage, 2 good runners in the driveway, and thats it. No street parking allowed either. Yea, I know its a pain in the butt with so many rules, but hey, my cars aren't going to tell me where to live. The silver lining is that each of our GT2s (including my own) will increase in value as there is 1 of 500 fewer ;<)
