I really only intend to get it to stop reliability, and go relatively reliably. I am going to leave the exterior and most of the interior alone for the most part besides some cleaning. But I appreciate the advice.

I have worked on a few cars, replacing engines, worked on various systems. I should be able to do it but this would be the first project when I need to put it all together. I am still in school so I am trying to make it low budget so I can romp around for a bit.

I was offered a free Bradley GT in OK condition, but there is a catch. The guy giving it to me only wanted it for the engine, so finding a engine to replace it is up to me. The reason I'm asking this question is because this particular Bradley has a type 4/914 engine (guy is using the engine in a 914). I wanted to know if a type 1 will still be able bolt right up or will there be conversion parts that need to be removed? Should I just try to find a type 4? Clutch? Id Like to use a type 1 due to availability, simplicity and because I'm new to VW's.
