That's terrible Skip. What causes the problem? Too much solvent? Humidity?

I worked a little on the Bradley this weekend. The carb that I am using is a 30/31 that I purchased brand new from CIP. The car fires right up but I cant get it to ilde at the proper speed - running way to fast ~1300-1500 rpm.
I've tried adjusting using the processes I've found online - set the fast idle cam, set the smaller adjustment screw on the side at 2.5 turns out, then use the big air adjustment screw to control idle speed. Even with the big idle screw turned all the way in, I'm still getting too high an idle.
Will look for vacuum leak next but definitely perplexed.

OK. But there is no mounting hardware for the piston either.

The driver side gull wing door on my car does not have a lift support/piston. There is no mounting hardware at all.
What creative solutions/parts have you used to keep the door up when you want it up (no viagra jokes) and close without slamming it?

Don't know where you are located, but suggest you talk to Mike at www.everythingledharleydavidson.com/about He supplies LED for all sorts of applications, not just motorcycles. He is going to set me up for ones on my 68 Mustang and possibly for the Bradley. Depends on the size of the headlight bucket if they will work on the Bradley. But he has them for turn signals, interior/dome lights, backup lights, etc. I just met him last week at So-Cal Arizona in Phoenix.

Only one spot needs repair - on the rocker panel below passenger door. But I wanted to paint it red and lose the Bass Boat finish.

Skip - I just read through this thread. Very impressive. You are a talented individual. Thanks for sharing all the work you are doing in such a detailed way. Maybe I shouldn't sell that Subaru EJ22 I had planned to put in the 914?

Very exciting day for me today. I purchased the GT II earlier this year with no motor. I have only started my journey into the world of VW powered vehicles and the motor I built for this car is my second one ever.
After installing the motor, turned attention to adding front brakes, repairing the hydraulic clutch, and attending to some basic electrical. The fruits of our labor finally paid off today!
Yes, I am doing donuts!
Still need to work out more electrical - mainly headlights/tail/brake/turn signals.

None of the glass in a GT2 is flat except maybe the little sliders on the side. If you are referring to the sky-facing panels, they are tinted lexan or whatever plastic you favor. They are also curved but you could accomplish that with a heat gun after you cut them to size. Some 2's I've seen have the rubber seal wrapped on the panel, I like it on the support lip, makes a neater tighter job, Good Luck! Thanks. So to confirm, the side glass in the gull door is not flat? I have to find a factory replacement or can I use tinted lexan for that as well?

My neighbor tells me he wants it. Will see if he comes through with the cash. But after reading Skip's thread on #3, I'm tempted to rethink the sale.

I found an available spade connector on the starter solenoid and ran the wire from there to the regulator/excitor on the alternator. Works fine.

I have an internally regulated alternator installed in the 1600CC motor of my Bradley. Wondering where to connect teh "excitor" wire off the top of the alternator. It is basically only hot when key is turned to START? I don't see a connection for it in the harness in the engine bay.

I hope to be painting the GT II later this year and will need to replace the molding that goes around the wheel opening. Is this material still available?

Spent the last couple days working on the car. Flushed and repaired the hydraulic clutch so that is ready. Got all the brakes installed. Need my son to come over and help me bleed the brake.
A friend of mine is an electrical wizard and is going to try and work out the gremlins in the system this week. If all goes wel, will be driving the car over the holiday weekend. Next steps will be replacing broken or missing gull wing door glass. Am I correct in assuming those are flat pieces of glass that just need to be cut to size? Does anyone have templates?

Its a bubble flare. I believe the nut size is 10mm x 1.0. Your local NAPA has these in stock, pre=made correctly, in a variety of lengths. I strongly suggest you go that route. Thanks. I took the advice and got one pre-done from the autoparts store. My kids got me this for Father's day, and I'm dying to try it, but not yet. Flaring Tool

There were no brake calipers installed on my GT II when i got it. I have discovered that the Karmann Ghia calipers line up perfectly. The master cylinder ports for the front brakes are capped off. Can someone tell me what size (diameter) brake line I need to get (and proper thread size for the nut) as well as what type of flare I should use? Bubble, Double or Single?
Thanks

I had picked up this setup with the intent for using in my 72 914. But I decided to go a different route. If anyone is interested, it is out of a Subaru Legacy. EJ22 motor - non-turbo 2wd automatic transmission ECU for engine and transmission wiring harness axles hubs rotors
