You may want to check this out it seems to solve the problems of the old style hook and eye problem, I installed it on mine with the shaft extender - helps with my big feets not getting tangled in the pedals:
Pretty neat idea you found there. I have solved the same issue, with a band clamp & have installed in the car & adjusted. Nice, smooth, & silent, operating clutch pedal. The cable will never slip off..untill I take it off from the pedal assembly, when the time comes to replace the cable.
Good idea with the band clamp. I replaced my clutch cable last weekend and it was a hassle keeping it hooked while getting tension in the cable, never mind feeding the new cable through the guide tube!!!
I still work on it. Will be getting a replacement headlight switch next month. I have put my car cover on the car, with the weather raining for 3 days in a row. Dont worry, the Astra GT recieves attention & work all the time. You know what really sucks? I have 1 left rear tire, that has been flatspoted really bad. All the other tires are in pretty good shape. They dont even make this tire anymore. So, maybe next spring I'll get some new tires for it.
Yes well, It is just that 3 of the other tires are in great shape. Plus, when I do replace the tires, I have to go with BF Goodrich T/A tires. I have 14" wheels that are pretty wide in the rear. So, it will be costly.

Id enjoy seeing an update as well, even if its just something minor. I know what it's like to have projects on the back burner for a couple years, and its always good to look over what the next step will be just to keep interest going.
